Hey, Port Alberni! We have some very exciting news for you here at Creative Grove! On Thursday, June 2, 2022, we will be launching our first open mic and featured performer reading series at 7PM at the Trinity Community Hall. Our events will continue to run on a monthly basis and will feature amazing writers, musicians, comedians, and all types of creatives from Port Alberni and beyond! We will also be offering approximately three-minute open mic slots, so feel free to come out and share your work in front of an encouraging and supportive audience. Snacks and drinks will also be provided. Doors open at 6:30PM, so stop on by and join us for an evening of literature, music and laughs!
You are cordially invited to join us on Thursday, June 2, 2022, for A Winter Evening, our very first event in the Creative Grove open mic and featured performer reading series! Our primary featured performer will be Winter Darbey, from right here in Port Alberni, who recently published his debut graphic novel, Cressida: Dream Warrior, about a fiery spirit named Cressida who is tasked with saving the City from gruesome monsters that have escaped the Place Between. The book showcases some truly incredible
artwork too, so you’re not going to want to miss out on this.
We will also be featuring Sidney author Mary Walz, who has recently published her thrilling new novel, Firebrand, about a young girl who is desperate to hide her magical abilities in a world that has outlawed powers, and Peter McGuire (Victoria) and Julian Growcott (Nanaimo) who met here in Port Alberni and went on to create the stunning graphic novel, The Art of Twelve.
We know you’re going to enjoy these talented creatives, and we’d love for you to stop by and enjoy the show or even read something of your own at the open mic! Doors open at 6:30PM, so come and claim your seat and enjoy some snacks and drinks. Hope to see you there!
